چکیده

Spatial filtering using adaptive or smart antennas has emerged as a promising technique to improve the performance of cellular mobile systems. Due to the digital nature of the control of spatial filtering a quantization error is readily present. This is due to the fact that weights and phase information is provided with the aid of finite wordlength processors. This paper presents the development of a five-element digital beamforming antenna for RFID (radio frequency identification) reader operating on 2.4 GHz ISM-band. The paper presents detailed description of the operation of beam-form control including the analysis of 4-bit phase shifters. In addition, the result will show that the quantization error, even if it small, can degrade the pattern so dramatically making it unacceptable. However, we will show that with as low number of control bits as four the desired radiation characteristics can be achieved. Performance Analysis of RFID Tag Detection with Smart Antenna Using Adaptive Power Allocation

This paper proposes a novel approach to optimize the tag detection, coverage problem and power allocation issues of the RFID reader and tags. We have investigated the effects of variable localization of RFID tags from reader and power loss, inefficiency and distance constraints caused due to equal power allocations to the tags. As an improvement to the situation, implementation of adaptive algo...

Read Range Analysis of Passive RFID Systems for Manufacturing Control Systems

An RFID system can be considered as a wireless communication system because the reader device communicates with the transponder by using electromagnetic waves at radio frequencies. The performance of this communication link can be studied by determining the read range for backscatter RFID systems. The read range or the distance where the reader unit notices the tag depends on many factors. Freq...

UHF RFID Reader Antenna

This chapter addresses the various design issues, requirements, and specifications in designing reader antennas for UHF RFID applications. In a typical UHF system, the RFID reader antennas are geography specific; that is, there are different antennas for different geography, namely North America, Europe, et cetera. The discussion on the design challenges and performance expectations lead to a n...

Adaptive Array Antenna Using On-Off and CMA Algorithms for Microwave RFID Readers

This paper proposes an adaptive antenna using a combination of on-off and CMA algorithms. With the proposed technique, the on-off algorithm is first employed to search for a desired signal direction in which maximum received power is achieved. Then, interference is suppressed by performing CMA. Simulations are conducted according to the potential application of the proposed adaptive antenna. Th...

A Broad-Typed Multi-Sensing-Range Method for Indoor Position Estimation of Passive RFID Tags

The RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) system is paid attention as a technology that can realize a ubiquitous environment. Each RFID tag has a unique ID code, and is attached on some object with the information of the objects. A user reads the unique ID code using RFID readers and obtains the information of the object. One of the important applications of RFID technology is the indoor positi...
